Not So Easy Listening

So.

While trying to lull my night owl 3-year-old to sleep recently, I sang every song I knew. First, it was all the kid songs with which she was familiar. Then, as I got more desperate, I started singing anything that came to mind. (If you'd like to know how to lullabatize "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" e-mail me...). (And yes, I'm pretty proud of the word "lullabatize.")

This explains why I have been listening to Firefall's "You are the woman that I've always dreamed of" as sung by a 3-year-old for the past week.

Yes...good luck getting it out of your head, too.

Why thank you, I was trying to get the theme to Zooboomafoo out of my head. That did the trick. :)

I used to sing Beatles songs to my kids when they were little. :)

Has anybody seen my heart? I saw your face and then *poof*! Gone.

Hit 40 - I know. I don't want the day to come when she tells me I'm a dork for singing those songs to her.

ZenMom - Nice idea on the Beatles. I can never think of decent music when I'm being issued the "'nother song" directive.

Tante - ha ha ha ha ha ha

How to lullabyisize songs in 1 easy step:

1) Buy "Rockyabye Baby". Now available on iTunes at a computer near you!

My almost-2 year old son falls asleep to Metallica, Green Day, Ramones, Eagles, Zeplin, AC/DC, Beatles, etc every night. One day, a few years hence, he's going to hear one of those on whatever passes for a radio then and wonder why the hell he can't get it out of his head. Muhahahaha!

Why bother with the trouble of lullabatizing? Most of King Missile's stuff is already pretty close.

Stacy - Let me share this with you...on Saturday, an old friend of mine was visiting (see post from 7/20) that Avery had never met before. To make her entrance and meet this friend, my child dressed in her Belle princess dress and high heels, looked at my friend and said, "My dog has no nose...how does he smell?...Terrible" and then sang, "you are the woman that I always dreamed of" to her. I don't think I could have been prouder. We may finally have a performer in the family.
