Avery (two seconds after seeing the dragon boats): "I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats. I wanna go on the dragon boats."
Avery (two minutes and $16 after getting on a dragon boat): "I wanna get off the dragon boat."

Ahahahahahaha!
Perfect.
And so it is with children. What can you do but laugh?
I wanna go on the dragon boats!!!! Pleeeeeaaase!!
Theresa - Exactly! Oh my God. We had used this as leverage for an entire day to get her to behave at dinner and go to bed on time. (And even paying for the thing was an issue -- the woman working at the dragon boat kiosk and I had words becuase she had some major attitude with me.) So a lot of build up and a lot of effort went into getting this child on the dragon boat. It was hilarious. I have a photo I should post -- Tim and I smiling while she pouts between us.
I am still giggling over this post!
Hmm.... I don't get it. Why is this funny, unusual or ironic? Around here that's just called "Any day ending in the letter 'y'".
Minus the dragon boats, of course.

PS: Rum Tum Tugger.
Rum Tum Tugger is a great analogy, Jason.
Posts like these make me want to call my mom and apologize. "Demanda" was a hard-earned and well-deserved nickname. In fact, on special occasions, she would call me Princess Demanda.
Perhaps a nickname for Avery is in order? Slavery? Miss Behavery?
I'm seeing more than a little in common with your childhood and Miss Behavery's (I love this). You will also appreciate then after we had lunch on Saturday and were contemplating whether we should go back to the aquarium, Avery noted, "Yes, because I need to have more fun." Because she is very deprived.
Indeed. I'm surprised she doesn't have a Vitamin D deficiency from all the time she is forced to spend in the coal mines. You're so tough on her.
Yes! So glad this is a universal (if it happened to Brutalism as well as us it must be) experience. D7 -- Miss Behavery is brilliant.
I love A's power and audacity. Please post the pic so I can put it in the frame with the one of her in the Talbots display window.
My four year old: I want Star Wars yogurt, I want Star Wars yogurt, I want Star Wars yogurt-- repeat 30x.
Two minutes later: How many more bites do I have to take of my Star Wars yogurt.
It's not a very big container... this is annoying.
haha! I laugh through my tears.
Yep, that sounds about right. Haha.
