Isn't It Ironic?

Last night I received notification of a $50 fine I had to pay for going through a red light. (I saw the camera light flash when this happened, but was hoping it was for the person in back of me.) Oy.

The delicious irony? This happened as I was driving away from the Fairfax County Courthouse after serving on jury duty, an experience you can read about here. (It was kind of a high profile case here in Fairfax because it involved a former Redskin.)

Perhaps I have another resolution to add my list.

So, I'm breaking laws and breaking resolutions, but at least I haven't lost any weight yet on my DietBet challenge.

I'm eating really well, not drinking alcohol and the weight is not budging. I obviously need to step up the exercise. I've asked the hilariously funny and motivational Shut Up and Run to provide me some Biggest Loser-esque advice/motivation from afar (she is in Colorado). Bring it, SUAR!

Hoping to be a three-time loser,
Brutalism

It sucks when providing a civil service ends up costing you more.

Brett - I know. I was going to be paid $30 for my days of civic duty, and then agreed to donate some back in order to keep days of service required by citizens down to a more manageable number. So after the fine, I definitely came out behind.

Damn justic system.

You make me laugh.
I never ever use the middle finger but we recentley got a new hospital built 2 miles from my house and they must pay BIG bucks to have a stop light that changes when 1 person leaves their parking lot. Their can be 10 cars behind me and 1 leaving the hospital and it will change suddenly so we all have to brake. Well, I only drive 3 miles to work but have to hit 5 lights and 1 school zone so 1 day I flipped off the camera at that hospital light. I just hate it.
Our town is growing too fast and all the lights that are 5 minutes long just make me want to move to the country.

Working on it!! You'll hear from me soon. Obviously you need to be drinking a hell of a lot more.

Ms. Givens - I look forward to the day you post the picture that is snapped of you giving the light the finger. That is brilliant.

SUAR - I think I will love your plan if it includes a lot more drinking. I chose the right coach!

Hi! I read about the trial. And I think I saw the story because it was ripped from the headlines and used for a Law and Order or something. Were you the holdout?
I've lost exactly zero pounds as well.

First, sign me up for ShutUp's diet plan! Secondly, I got called for jury duty ONCE. I told them I was the daughter of a Treasury/Narcotics officer, married to a convicted felon (my ex), and 8 months pregnant.

I think they black-listed me.

Sarah - My husband thought he saw that on Law and Order, too, so I think it was a similar storyline. Interesting. I wish they had done it after my jury trial so I could select which actor would play me.
I was not the holdout. Although I had some sympathy for the guy, I also have sympathy for those of us that drive on the same roads and he has been arrested three times in five years for DWI...which makes me wonder how many times he has actually driven while legally drunk.

Chantel - Shut Up and Run rocks because she does not deny herself wine or candy or anything, really, she just makes sure she kicks ass with her workouts and then does not have to obsess about the mind-numbingly boring task of weight loss.

P.S. Next time I get jury duty, I'm stealing your story. Or is it illegal to lie about being married to a felon and being pregnant?

Not drinking alcohol?!?!?! There must be a more reasonable way to lose weight than that. Like starving yourself or developing a meth addiction. Anything!

Christian - I hear you. I will be thinner, but will no longer have a will to live. It's really an interesting trade off. We'll see how it goes. The other night when I was putting away Christmas ornaments, a tedious task for which I would normally reward myself with a delicious beer, I drank tea instead. TEA! That just made it extra tedious.

We don't ever get good trials in the small town I live in. Law and Order probably wouldn't be interested in recreating the case of the farmer who stloe his neighbor's corn crop and bred their champion blue tick hound with his Shitzu

Never. Ever. Give up alcohol.

Abby - as there is 24-hours a day of Kardashian programming, I'm guessing there may be an audience for champion blue tick hound and Shitzu breeding...

ALRN - I think that is going to be my primary take away from all of this.

Hi Brutalism,
I like to read your post. Very funny!! To loose weigh , you only need to drink winter melon juice one glass per day and do aerobics 15 minutes every morning. Soon you will be fit!
